The Sir James McNeill Postgraduate Research Scholarship (SJMN) is funded by a private trust and was established in memory of the late Sir James McNeill, who had a long association with Monash University. This prestigious scholarship is available for research that is both environmentally responsible and socially beneficial and helps support a student with living costs whilst studying at Monash.
You must meet the following criteria: • have submitted a scholarship application in the current year; • be undertaking research that is both environmentally responsible and socially beneficial; • meet Monash’s competitive scholarship selection process requirements; and • meet Monash English language proficiency requirements. Selection criteria • Monash scholarships are very competitive and are awarded based on your academic record, any research outputs and prior research experience. • The standard RTP Scholarships terms and conditions as outlined in the RTP Scholarship Procedures apply, with the exceptions outlined in the eligibility criteria above. • This scholarship is open to those conducting research within the faculties of Arts (School of Music only); Engineering; Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and Science.
The SJMN provides: • a living allowance (stipend); • a research allowance; and • a relocation allowance, if eligible.
Application for graduate research scholarships is done at the time of applying for your course, unless you are already enrolled. A single application is used for both admission and scholarship. You do not need to specify which scholarship you are applying as you are automatically considered for all graduate research scholarships (where eligible).
